The Battle of Gog and Magog is Closer Than We Think
|
The books of Ezekiel and Revelation mention a horrible battle, known as the Battle of Gog and Magog,
in which Satan himself will gather a massive army that will be made from all of the nations that
immediately surround the nation of Israel. Although this battle will mainly happen in Israel, the scriptures
also teach that this army will also attack many other nations throughout the world.
A careful review of the scriptures show not only that this great apocalyptic battle is near, but also that
each of the nations that will compose the Nation of Gog and Magog will come from Muslim nations,
something that goes hand on hand with the end time teachings and the believes of many Muslin religious
leaders, who teach that in the later days a great Muslim Imam, will lead all of the Muslim nations into a
great holy war (Jihad) against not only Israel but also United States and every other nation that does not
submit themselves under the Islam.
Although many Christian theologists and eschatologist for the most part believe that most of the nations
that will make the great army of Gog and Magog come from the Middle East, many of them teach that
Christians will not be on earth at the time of this horrible battle; however, the scriptures point other wise.
In fact the attack of September 11, 2001, the United States Invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq as well as
the recent Invasion of Lebanon by Israel are key events in the fulfillment of this prophecy. Each of these
events have created great deal of turmoil and animosity between the Arab nations, the nation of Israel and
United States, to the point that at various Arab summits there have been many discussions and requests
made asking all of the Muslim nations to join forces to fight against the nations of Israel, England and
United States.
How Close Are We To The Battle of Gog and Magog?
Ezekiel chapter 38:1-18 states that once God had gathered the people of Israel back on their land, He will
put hooks in the jaws of Gog and Magog so that they would bring an army against the nation of Israel that
will cover the land of Israel like a cloud. The Nation of Israel was brought back from the sword and from
many nations of the world in 1948, when Israel was reestablished as a nation.
Ezekiel stated that at the time when the armies of Gog and Magog would attack Israel, God will show His
fury and there will be a great earthquake in the land of Israel which will cause every living thing, every
building and every mountain on the face of the earth to shake at the presence of God so that every
mountain, every high place and every wall will fall to the ground (Ezekiel 38:18-20). God will then call a
sword against Gog and Magog so that every man’s sword will be against his brother and judgment with
pestilence, bloodshed, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire and brimstone will rain on the troops of Gog
and Magog.
At that time God will offer the people of Gog and Magog as a sacrifice to the birds of prey and to the
beast of the field to be devoured. Then God would allow the people of Israel to bury those who died in
the valley of those who pass by east of the sea and this place will be called the Valley of Hamon Gog
(Ezekiel 39:1-11).
Although it is clear that God will fight for Israel, the prophet Zachariah stated that prior to God's
intercession; He would allow the armies of Gog and Magog to take hold of the city of Jerusalem and to
take half of the people of Jerusalem back into captivity. Zachariah expanded by saying that many houses
will be broken into and many women will be raped. The only ones who will not be taken from the City of
Jerusalem will be the remnant of the people of God (Zachariah 14:1-3).
The book of Revelation states that once Satan has been released from his prison, he will go out to deceive
all of the nations of the world and to gather the army of Gog and Magog whose number is as the sand of
the sea. The army of Gog and Magog will surround the beloved city of Jerusalem as well as the camp of
the saints, and then fire will come down from God in heaven and will devour Satan’s army. Satan will
then be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. These will be
tormented day and night forever and ever in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:7-10).
Why is it so important that Christians know the truth about the Battle of Gog and Magog?
The lands that were formerly known as Gog, Magog, Rosh, Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Ethiopia, Lybia,
Gomer and Tarshish are now the nations of Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Egypt, Libya,
Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The latter 5 were once
part of the USSR, but now are seeking to create a Muslim Union. All of these nations have in common the
fact that each them practices the Islam.
In direct relation with the prophecy of the Battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38, 39), the teachings of
many who teach the Koran said that in the latter days the People of the Islam (Muslims) would come
together under one Imam (a great Islamic religious leader) who will lead a holy war or “jihad” against
Jews, Christians and anyone who would not convert to the religion of the Islam. During this Great War,
those who refuse to be converted to the Islam are to be killed by the sword.
This is not a coincidence, Ezekiel prophesied saying that God Himself would place hooks in the jaws of
Gog and Magog and He will bring them to battle against the People of Israel. It is not Satan the one who
is shaking and moving things here; God is the One who is in control.
It is evident by the above scriptures that God will allow many Muslim nations to join forces as the next
world empire under the leadership of a Muslin Religious Leader. This Leader will declare war against Jews
and Christians, and will not attack only the nations of Israel and United States but many other nations as
well as many Jewish and Christian people who currently live within in Muslim territory.
Will Christians and Messianic Jews Still be on Earth to See this Happen?
Many end time bible teachers claim that Christians will not be here at the time of the battle of Gog and
Magog stating that the rapture or gathering of the saints will happen prior to this event; however,
Revelation 20: 9 clearly states that the armies of Gog and Magog will surround not only the City of
Jerusalem but also the camp of the saints showing that both Christians and Messianic Jewish believers will
be on earth at the time of Gog and Magog. The word saint refers to men and women who by the grace of
God came to the knowledge of Christ, and by faith in Christ these men and women were redeemed by the
blood of the Lamb.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 Paul warned us by saying that the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our
gathering with Him would not happen until there comes firsts a great apostasy or rebellion and until after
the manifestation of the man of sin (the false Messiah) who will sit at the Temple of Jerusalem claiming
that he is God. In other words, both the false messiah (the Antichrist) and the Battle of Gog and Magog
will happen prior to the second return of Christ and our gathering with Him. Don't take my word for it,
please read verses 1-4 on your own bibles.
Paul also explained in 1 Corinthian 15:15 that “we,” meaning believers will be changed like the twinkling
of an eye at the last trumpet. In saying the last trumpet, Paul referred to the seventh trumpet that is
mentioned in Revelation 11:15, where John said that the seventh angel sounded his trumpet and the
kingdom of this world became the kingdom of God and of His Christ. Unlike in the King James Version
of the Bible that uses the word “kingdoms”, the original Greek, uses the word kingdom (in singular
form). This kingdom refers to the body of believers of Christ that were called out of this world to serve
Jesus in spirit and in truth.
Revelation 17: 12-14 says that ten kings, who have received no kingdom as of yet will have one mind,
meaning that they all have one religion, shall give their power and strength to Satan, the beast and will
make war against Jesus, the Lamb of God, but the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords,
and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. Could these ten kings
be the kings of Gog, Magog, Rosh, Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Ethiopia, Lybia, Gomer and Tarshish.
Although many eschatologists claim that the ten kings that will fight against the lamb all come from
Europe, they often fail to realize that Revelation Chapter 13 mentions another beast, who will come out
of the earth, who had two horns like a lamb, but spoke as a dragon (Revelation 13:11-12). This second
beast will exercise all the power of the first beast (the Empire of Rome) before him, and caused the earth
and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast (Satan) whose deadly wound was healed. Satan
was wounded at the time when Jesus ascended to heaven and was given all dominion and power, for the
prophecy specifically said that God would put enmity between Satan and the woman (Israel), and
between Satan’s seed and the seed of the woman, who would bruise the head of Satan (Genesis 3:15).
Why do many end time bible teachers claim that Christians will not be on earth at the time of the
battle of Gog and Magog and during the reign of the false Messiah?
Part of the reason is the fact that many end time bible teachers misunderstand the passage of Revelation
20:1-6, which states that John saw on a vision an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the
bottomless pit (the Abyss). The angel took a hold of Satan cast him into the Abyss and bound him for
1000 years. Then John saw the souls of those who had been beheaded (decapitated) for the witness and
testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshipped the beast or its image nor had
received their mark on their foreheads or on their hands. These sat on thrones and judgment was
committed to them and they sat with Christ for 1000 years.
I must point out that Revelation 20, verse 4 specifically says that the believers who went to be with Christ
were beheaded or killed for the testimony of Christ. We must honestly question our selves the following
question; if these were killed for the testimony of Christ, how could they have been gathered at the
rapture? How many Christians do we know today that are willing to give their lives for the testimony of
Christ? Not many!
Again I must ask, “who was the first man beheaded for the testimony of Christ?” Of course, John the
Baptist, who has decapitated by Herod. The next Christians who died for the testimony of Christ were
the apostles of Christ. The other question is; who are those who went with the Lord who were also given
thrones and authority to judge? In Mathews 19:27-29, Jesus specifically said to His disciples that in the
regeneration, when the Son of Man sat on the throne of His glory, the apostles who followed him would
also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. The regeneration refers to the time that
Jesus ascended to heaven and to His throne.
Those who were beheaded for the testimony of Christ who sat on thrones and received authority to judge
are none other than His apostles. The beast that they did not worship, nor received its mark on their
foreheads or on their hands referred to the beast known as the Empire of Rome. Revelation chapter 13
mentions a beast that rose out of the sea having seven heads and ten horns, which looked like a leopard, a
lion, a bear and was terrible. This vision was very much like the vision of Daniel in Daniel chapter 7: 1-7.
At the time of John, four beasts had risen over Israel since the time of Babylon. The fourth beast of
Daniel 7:7 was none other than the Empire of Rome.
When was Satan Cast out from Heaven and Bound?
According to Jesus, Satan the prince of the world was cast out at the time that Jesus was lifted up on the
cross (John 12: 28-32). This is clearly explained in Revelation 12: 1-9, where John states that He saw the
vision of a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and on hear head a garland of 12
stars. When we read the dream of Joseph on Genesis 37: 9-11, we quickly understand that the woman
refers to the nation of Israel.
According to Revelation 12:1-9, Israel is the woman who was ready to deliver a male child who was to
rule all nations. Before the woman, stood a dragon that wanted to devour the child as soon as the child
was born. The child was born then caught up to God and to His throne. Of course we know that this
child was Jesus, who now sits in heaven at the right hand of God His Father.
Revelation 12:7-9 clearly states that War broke out in heaven where Michael and His angels fought Satan
and his angels. Satan and his angels lost the war and no place was found in heaven any longer for them.
As a result of this Satan and his angels were cast out from heaven to the earth.
I must explain that the word “bottomless pit” which appears in Revelation 20:3, where Satan was cast and
bound into is the Greek word “abussos,” meaning the abyss, which properly translate to “a habitation of
demons.” According to Revelation 12: 7-8, Satan was cast into the earth. The abyss or habitation of
demons is not a hole in the center of the earth, but a spiritual dimension here on earth. This is confirmed
by Paul, who states that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers
of darkness and spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).
In 2 Thessalonians 2:5-8 Paul confirmed that Satan was already restrained or bound. He further stated
that the man of sin (Satan) would be revealed at the time when the one who now restrains him lets loose
of him. Then Satan will be consumed and destroyed by the breath of the mouth and the brightness of
Jesus’ return (2 Thessalonians 2:5-8).
Dear friend who reads these words, we are getting close to a time of trouble that the world has not seen
since the creation of the world. I saw in a vision a horrible beast roaming the earth, who with its tail and
wings caused great trouble to the world. The beats had something like a cage on its head that prevented
the beast from swallowing its pray. The beast was about to be released and I knew the great harm that this
beast would cause not only to Jews and Christians alike, but to all of the systems, the governments and
the religious institutions of this world even the institutionalized church that persecutes those who speak
the truth. The bible clearly says that the wrath of God is not for those who are in Christ, but clearly states
that we will be persecuted, tried and even killed for His Name sake.
Although the word of God clearly states that God will stand and fight against the nations of Gog and
Magog, the word of God clearly shows that God will not intervene until the power of the Holy People has
been broken so that He would have rendered full judgment to those who have been disobedient to His
words (both Jews and Gentiles). Through the battle of Gog and Magog, God will remove all the leaven
from Israel and will only keep the remnant of those who will serve Him in spirit and in truth. According
to Zachariah 14:3-5, it will be after the battle of Gog and Magog that the Lord will come and all the saints
with Him.
